Privacy Policy

The short version: the numbers you type into ShiftTally never leave your browser. This page explains that in full, and covers the cookies used by our advertising partner.

Your time card data stays on your device

All calculations run locally in your browser using JavaScript. The clock times, breaks, rates, and any names or notes you enter are processed on your device and are never sent to us or to any server. To keep your work from disappearing on refresh, entries are stored in your browser's local storage, which lives only on your device. You can erase it at any time with the "Clear all" button in a calculator or by clearing your browser's site data. Files you create with Print or Export CSV are generated in your browser and downloaded directly to you.

Information we collect

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect names, emails, or time card contents. Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security and to understand aggregate traffic. We also use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics that do not identify you personally.

Advertising and Google AdSense

ShiftTally is a free site supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense to display ads. To serve ads, Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies:

• Third-party cookies. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
• The DoubleClick / advertising cookie enables Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and others on the internet.
• Third-party vendors and ad networks may also use cookies to serve ads based on someone's past visits to this website.

Cookies and how to control them

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. On ShiftTally they are used mainly by our advertising partner as described above; the calculators themselves rely on local storage rather than cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking third-party cookies will not stop the calculators from working, though you may see less relevant ads.

Consent for users in the EEA, UK, and similar regions

Where required by law, advertising partners will ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies for personalized ads. You may withdraw or change your consent at any time through the controls above or your browser settings.

Children's privacy

ShiftTally is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or applicable law changes. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date.
